Has anyone order pistol/rifle from European dealer and got their VAT (value added tax) back?

VAT is 20%?

Usually they don't charge the VAT if it's being shipped out of the country, If you buy it in the country you can usually arrange the refund at the airport when you leave with it.

That is right, if ordering from outside of the country, they should not include VAT.

It's actually if you are buying from outside the European Union that VAT should be at a zero rate.

Also, and I realise that this probably wouldn't apply to most people here, if you are buying as a VAT registered company from another EU country (and can supply your VAT registration number) then VAT should not be charged by the seller.

It depends on the country.

At the moment the UK is 17.5% but it is going up to 20% in January.
I believe that the French standard rate of VAT (TVA) is 19.6%, Finland is 23%, Denmark is 25%.
