This match will be held in Rio de Janeiro, from 18th to 28th of November, with all disciplines of shooting and the participation of almost all american countries.

Could find no mention of it in any of the American shooting sites. It seems that the notable absence will be the US team. Any reason for that?

This is another in a line of strange decisions by USA Shooting regarding international events and sponsoring teams. As I understand it, the US was not represented in the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore and the junior pistol team that competed at the World Championships had to pay their own way to get there. USA Shooting has always been a bit stingy with how it spends money, but to the point of not attending or sponsoring teams for some of these international events seems a bit too far.

I know there are folks on here with more insight than me. I'd like to hear some reasoning behind this.

The USA are a poor country. Unlike the upcoming shooting nations like India, Malaysia, Mongolia, Iran, Thailand, they have no left money for superfluous frills and luxury like sport shooting. Why, they don't even have proper health care. :-)

U.S. will be there

Hello!

Welcome to the 10th CAT Championships in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil.

I was a former member of the Brazilian team and shot at the "CAT´s" Fort Benning 1985, San Juan 19989, Buenos Aires 1997 and San Juan 2005.

I hope to see great matches here in Rio. If you need to get more info, you can browse the Brazilian Shooting site at:

www.cbte.org.br

Our shooting range, the CNTE, built for the last 2007 PAG is a very big and modern facility and also will receive big events as the CISM 2010, The World Military Games 2011 and the Olympics in 2016.

You can find the range with Google Maps at:
