Question on Walthers

Hey,
I am looking into getting into precision shooting, and i was wondering what you guys thought about Walther Air Rifles. I was looking at either the LG300xt Aluminum, or the LG300xt Universal. What are your opinions on each rifle? Would they be ok for a new precision shooter? Keep in mind that I am 16 and am left handed.
Thank you so much!

Are you currently shooting sporter class air rifle? Are you a member of a club where you might be able to try out a few rifles? I started shooting competition in sporter class with a Daisy/Avanti 753/853. I tried out a club member's Diana 100 during a couple of practice session and eventually bought a used Anschutz 2001 SSP when I began shooting precision class. I currently shoot standing only with the LG300XT Alutec and have had some good results with it especially after getting it set up for balance and fit.
Where I shoot, the main rifles on the line are Feinwerkbaus and Walthers. Its all up to the shooter since these rifles are all capable of single hole groups and there's a mix of aluminum and wood from both brands. I've even seen one club member with a Walther Anatomic. All of the club members shoot well with their rifles regardless of the stock type. When comparing wood to aluminum stocks, the Walther wood stock gives up some range of adjustment in the cheekpiece to the aluminum stocks. I can't speak for other brands. This may not be a problem depending on stance and hold. Hope this helps.

Yes, I currently shoot sporter 3p, but i am wanting to move up to precision. I am apart of a 4h club, but y instructors don't want to go over sporter class, so i would mainly just enter into local competitions and practice. I currently shoot a really old daisy 853 and i really hate it, but i can still shoot pretty well with it in standing only.

Both Walther and FWB make excellent air rifles, the LG300xt is just one example. Anschutz and Steyr also make excellent rifles although they are not a popular.
As you make the move from Sporter to Precision I have other questions for you. How are you suited for things like jacket, glove, pants and shoes? How much of this do you have and is it USAS/ISSF legal?
I ask these questions because the LG300xt in most forms is pretty pricey. If you have all the other equipment, it is legal and working well for you and you can afford the LG300xt thats great.
If you need the rest of the kit then you may do well to consider something like the FWB 500. Those can be had for around $1500 from what I have seen. No, not as nice as a LG300 (aren't they over $2500 and pushing $3k?) but to shoot precision AR well a balanced kit is important. The best air rifle in the world won't be nearly as helpful if your other equipment does not help bring out its and your capabilities.
Just my 2 cents

I am needing to buy my gear, and i don't expect to start until the beginning of the year. I want Walther because they are extremely good rifles fr not much money. The LG300XT Universal is $1300, and the LG300XT Aluminum is $1900

The LG300xt can be pricey as are most precision AR. I suggest trying out some rifles if you can before buying. One of the main drawbacks to the 753/853 series is the heavy trigger. That can be lightened with some modification. Additional weights can be added to the rifle to bring it closer to the weight of a precision AR. Used rifles can be a good way to get into precision class. Another option is to check with CMP to see if you qualify to purchase one of the Anschutz or Walther rifles at a discount.
As Dude has said, consider the rest of your kit. If you don't already have a coat, pants, and glove you will want to consider these items. Without them you will be at a disadvantage.

The 753 also leaks, gets 8 ring accuracy (or worse), and strains my wrist.

You happen to be very lucky. Since you live in Tennessee you could go to Champions Choice. They are located in LaVergne. I have dealt with them a lot before and am impressed with their customer service.

I have an LG300. Its a non XT version, but I wont notice at my level..;)
Bought it for about 800 euro's new. Not too pricey imo!
Its very well finished, well balanced, quite light though, but thats cause of the alu cilinder and carbon shroud. So make sure you pick the correct 1!
I now bought an extra steel cilinder for added weight.
It holds air very well, and 300 bar is great for extra shots. Pitty the valve doesnt close after filling, so you loose air with unscrewing.

You might want to take a look at the Buy Sell Trade, a LH FWB 600 has recently been posted. (Note: I DO NOT know the seller I just noticed WRT you recent posts)
If you are interested plan on having all the seals replaced as they sound like they are all original and would be 25 years or so old. Also the 600s would benefit by the upgrade to the 601 cocking mechanism (not essential) Bottom line if you were interested, for $600 it would be a decent start but expect to put a little cash in to make it top tier.
Note an advantage here is you would not also be in for buying an air pump or other cylinder filling equipt.
Don't know if you would be interested in this direction but though I would point it out.
Cheers,
