Does an adjustable front sight change in ring thickness as you increase and decrease the size of the aperture? I use the Plastic apertures but would like to change to an adjustable one. or to the Centra glass screw in ones.

You will need the dual adjustment models like Centra Duo, where you adjust the outer and inner circumference of the ring separately. A standard model will have a fixed ring thickness.

well what i was wondering was if the ring thickness stays the same throughout the adjustable range.

I'm currently using using a plastic insert but I have an adjustable and I don't think it changes. If it does it is such a small amount that you won't notice it.
I know this isn't what you were asking about but I noticed yesterday that there is now some distortion in my plastic aperture around the ring and I found it distracting. I never noticed it before so I wonder if it is because of the very hot summer we've had.

Makris answered your question the first time. It depends on which adjustable front sight you happen to have. I have both types. One has adjustment for the center diameter and the ring thickness both. The other just changes the center diameter without any change in ring thickness.

Not sure what it is that you are not understanding.

If you buy an adjustable front sight it would more than likely be produced by 1 of these 2 companies,Gehmann or Centra-Mec, both have english version katalogs that can be downloaded. The particulars of each product are explained in detail.Hope this helps.
