It would be great if the grip could be fitted to both, i.e. without loosing the option of using the Steyr grip on a Steyr LP. I do not know how a SAM attaches to the grip internally, but I assume that there is a long screw that holds it tight. So basically the main question is whether the cavity in the grip fits. Adding extra plates etc. to fill up space is no problem, but there is not much room for enlarging the cavity.

Is there any cross-section drawing of the SAM that shows the attachment?

Are you asking because both SAM and Steyr sold pistols under the Anschütz label? Be aware that the Anschütz connection was solely for marketing purposes.

I can't say for sure, but I believe there is no interchangeability between SAM and Steyr for anything except perhaps some small screws.

Well, it IS possible to mount a SAM grip on a Steyr LP5, so why not vice versa...

Actually I´m just asking because I have an older Steyr with a modeled grip and have now been offered a SAM. I would like to keep my grip.

I suppose every AP will have two basic elements that attach it to the grip: a long screw that creates the tension and something that is part of the main pistol section that rests against the wood and allows to adjust the placement. On the Steyr, the latter are the 6 tiny screws which are the only parts that touch the wood. Does anybody know how the internal of the SAM looks like?

The SAM has one screw in the back to adjust the vertical angle, and a sideways adjustment above the trigger. The grip mount is not fully compatible, as the Steyr has a long frame mounted tube through the grip, and the SAM a long screw. What I did was mounting a SAM / MG grip on a Steyr LP5, which is pretty easy, by replacing the Steyr tube with the SAM part. I'm pretty sure that the old LP1 grip is too small on the inside to use on a SAM, the SAM frame is similiar in size to the LP5. Another option you have is sending your Steyr grip to Thomas Rink and ask him to copy it onto the SAM.
