Type of socks in shooting boots

Post by ZD »

For years I have worn hiking type socks, with wool and some polyester in my shooting boots since the pair I had is always a little big. I am going to be ordering a pair of Kustermann's that will fit me, and I was curious as to what socks people like to wear in their shooting boots; and especially low vs high cut. I am thinking about some sort of polyester ankle sock.

I use a thin dress sock that is a high cut and comes above my shooting boot. I also notice that when I change my socks, my score is generally lower than my normal.

But it is a personal thing that you need to try out.
I would say start with a medium thickness and work your way to an ideal thickness from there.

Just my two cents....

I love under armor football socks they fit nicely and they are nice and long..i put them over my other socks and it gives me some extra padding and it nice and comfortable. The other sock from under armor if you can find it would be all sport socks.

Just a pair of cotton athletic socks, the same that I wear when I'm in general "tennis" or walking shoes. #1 - go for comfort, #2 - too much padding may feel "bouncy". I also used two socks, wayyyy back when (think it was a fad of some sort!), but stopped after realizing it didn't allow for a good foot feel of balance.
