I may well be wrong but I always thought that:-

Outbox = Not yet delivered/read
Sentbox = Delivered/read

then why ,when you click on "submit" ,do they end up in the outbox,and not get sent? Or,...how do you get them from the outbox to the sentbox ?

Once again, if I understand it correctly, the transfer gets done automatically when the recipient has read the message.

out/sent

my apologies , David. When you mentioned "delivered" , I thought that meant "on the way",not waiting to be read, or stuck in some electronic logjam....... thankyou

Sentbox has actually been sent and received (read) by the recipient
Outbox has been sent but has not yet been read by the recipient.

out/sent
