Using a Beretta 87

Hi all,

I am getting back into the pistol game and I am thinking about the Beretta 87. For a good part of my early to mid-20s, I shot a Beretta 92FS for plate shooting and the like and it was great. I've always been happy with my Beretta products and I was wondering-how far do you guys think the 87 will take me? Is there something similar out there I might want to take a look at under $1000?

You can do a lot better for the money. The Beretta 87 is an excellent pocket pistol (I own one myself), but a proper target pistol it isn't. Go for a S&W Model 41 or a CT-made High Standard.

I'm talking about the Beretta 87 Target model.

Well, the Beretta 87 is a middle-class plinking and practice pistol. I doubtlessly has a barrel that can shoot some excellent groups from a vice, and equally doubtless, the shooter will not be able to realize this potential with its mediocre trigger, bad grips and rudimentary "user interface".
