Bought a sechand AP40. Its should be 3yrs old. Is that the steel barrelled 1 already?
Also heard they tend to break cilinder seals often; you should empty the chamber from air before unscrewing the cilinder totally, etc.
Is this indeed an issue?

I would be very suprised if you had to do anything other than just unscrew the cylinder. I can't see any reason why seals should have to be treated any different to other air pistols, they all work in pretty much the same way.

We have a club AP40 and it does need a new cylinder seal a bit more frequently than most other pistols. However it is just a small O ring and very easy to fit using the conical guide supplied with the pistol.

I'm very gentle with mine and no problems so far. I use a nice grease, very slight amount, and that seems to help.
