Affordable .22 Practice Ammo For Morini Free Pistol?

I am just getting back into free pistol after a couple years off. MY supply of Federal 711B ammo (with the dimple in the back) is down to less than 500 rounds, and I'd like to keep that for matches.

I've been shooting CCI in my standard pistol, but it appears to be a bit bigger than the Federal, chambers a little less easily in the Morini, and occasionally fails to extract.

I have a few miscellaneous odds & ends to try (Winchester T22, Ely Club).

Does anyone have a favorite that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? It doesn't even have to be 100% reliable, I'd just like it to be moderately accurate & chamber easily. Due to the ongoing ammo shortage in the US, I'm not sure how broad my options will be.

Thanks!

Howdy neighbor,
I'd say for an inexpensive practice round try the Federal Automatch brand. You should be able to find it at Wally World for $14.47/325 bulk pack.

The Federal Automatch sounds very promising. I did some digging on-line, and the only issue reported seems to be leading in some smallbore rifles. The price is reasonable, I just have to find someone with stock.

I just called around to a bunch of Walmarts, and the vast majority of Walmarts in eastern Mass don't sell ammunition any longer. The only one I called that still sells ammo doesn't carry Federal. Where abouts in Massachusetts did you find it? I will be driving from Lexington to Springfield on Tuesday, and could easily hit dozens of Walmarts long the way.

Thanks!

Try these WM locations: Bellingham, Framingham, Shrewsbury

I've had luck at all (3) at one time or another. Hope one of them hits for you.

Framingham says they don't sell ammo anymore. Northborough does, but they claim they don't sell Federal .22. Is that the "Shrewsbury" store you mentioned? I'll call Bellingham Monday. It's a bit out of the way, but worth the detour if they have it.

I was unaware of the Framingham WM not carrying any more ammo, I've purchased my fair share from them dozens of times last season. .... Yes, the "Northborough" WM is the one I was thinking in Shrewsbury. (next town over I guess) ... Give Bellingham WM a jingle, hopefully they will have some. Best of luck
