USA Shooting Regional Training Center - West Coast

Post by HS »

LAR&R Club Smallbore Rifle Range
- A Certified USA Shooting Regional Training Center

Established in 1906, the LAR&R Club is a non-profit organization (501.c.3) with the mission of promoting the competitive rifle shooting sports, including developing young athletes to shoot on collegiate teams as well as represent the United States on the world stage. LAR&R Club is newly certified by USA Shooting as its Regional Training Center (RTC) on the West Coast.

Our goal is to raise $100,000.00 for adding an electronic target system to make the training center parallel to an international shooting facility. Your tax deductible gift can help make this plan a reality.

LAR&R has been a training and competition ground for college bound shooters, some receiving scholarships for their shooting abilities. LAR&R has also been the training ground for a number of US Olympians in the last 50 years. These include James Hill - 1960 Olympic Silver Medalist, Victor Auer - 1972 Olympic Silver Medalist, David Kimes - 1980 Olympian and two-time World Champion, Alan Knowles - 1984 Olympian, and Billy Meek - 1992 & 1996 Olympian.

We believe that world class coaching at a world class facility along with hard work produces world class rifle athletes. Mr. David Kimes is the head coach, teamed with Mr. Edward Knutson, Mr. Bob McMullin and other dedicated coaches, they have had a very successful group of junior shooters that have amassed many State and National Championships including numerous State and National Records. The LAR&R smallbore rifle range also offers year round outdoor training opportunities to the US National Rifle Teams.

Your tax deductible gift in support for the acquisition of the electronic target system will have a profound influence in developing future champions and Olympians for generations to come. Make your check today payable to “LAR&R Club” and note it is for “RTC”.

The LAR&R RTC is also devoted to develop and increase the pool of certified rifle coaches, officials and volunteers of the future generation. So, even if you are not a competitive rifle athlete, you can be a part of this great sport. We hold rifle coach schools and intermediate to advanced level rifle clinics. USA Shooting Preliminary Tryouts (PTO) are held at the range monthly. Check the club website for schedule.

The LAR&R smallbore rifle Range is physically located in the Los Angeles County Whittier Narrows Recreational Area, Athletic Area A, just northwest of the SR-60 freeway and Rosemead Blvd. Upon entry of the park, follow the circulation road to the right, pass the BMX track on your right, the range entrance will be next on your right. We look forward to seeing you.
