IZH46M Trigger smoothness

Hi all,
I've been shooting with my Izzy for a few years now and I'm a fan of the little thing; but recently I've noticed that the trigger pull has gotten worse. It was never quite as smooth and crisp as on my anschutz rifles, but at the moment, roughly one shot in three will be ruined because instead of a smooth pull back to the second stage and a clean release, the trigger hangs up on something in the first stage, and then frees itself, dives right up to the second stage and releases before I'm ready. It's like there's sand in the mechanism or something. I've tried cleaning with compressed air but to no avail. I've had to convert it to a single stage trigger to get it to the point where I don't want to throw it into the wall every three shots.
Has anyone come across this before, and is it a case of full disassembly and polishing metal parts or is there an easier solution?
