Free Pistol Triggering

Hi all,

I am having some difficulty triggering my Free Pistol.

I feel that I am developing the trigger quite well and smoothly, then I often tend to jerk it a little and I flick the shot off.

Any thoughts or theories on how I can counteract this?

Is your trigger weight very light? I think what you are describing can be because you are not 100% comfortable with your thigger. A common mistake is to think that very light trigger is an advantage, but unless you are on a rather high level and trains a lot it is not so. For us casual shooters it is much better to turn up the trigger weight so we feel comfortable putting the finger on the trigger and squeesing without worring about the shoot breaking too soon.

When I got my toz35 I turned the trigger weight up and had good results. Then I slowly decresed the trigger weight and I coulden't figure out why my scores got worse untill a coach told me to turn back up the trigger weight. Vola, my scores returned to to the initial good ones...

One method of dry fire training that does not get lots of press is just sitting in a chair and pulling the trigger. Not looking at the sights but with the pistol in your lap. Just thinking about pulling the trigger. Feel everything about just the action of moving your trigger finger. This will build your muscle memory for your trigger.

The trigger weight I am using is about 100g.

I can't really control much less.

Will look into just sitting on the couch and pressing the trigger

Have you tried increase first stage, and weight.
I saw improvements from going in that direction.
