I'm new to air pistol but interested in the Air Arms that USA Shooting endorses. Any one here have experience with these air pistols or know how they rate compared to other makes and models?

Looking for that first starter pistol. I am considering this one but also the izzy. Not sure I have seen any posts associated with the alpha.

My one contact with the Alpha Proj was very positive - nice balance; good sights, trigger and grip. I think the TAU7 does each a bit better. My first serious air pistol was a TAU. I loved it to death and only parted with it because I'm less clever than a CO2 cartridge. Despite the great popularity of the Izh46m, I'd go with the TAU7 for a first pistol.

If you want to try the sport with a minimum investment don't forget the Daisy 717. When my club tried to kick off a youth AP program the kids did very nicely with 717s, never even thinking about the expensive Pardini, Steyr etc that the adults brought.

Downside of the AP, its not regulated. I dont like that in a pcp matchgun. It seems to have 80fps spread over 1 fill. Also no gauge.
Other big downside, it has a universal, non-adj grip fitted.
Also, 90 shots isnt that much.
They dó seem to shoot accurate quite easily, as do the Tau's.
Dunno about reliability, if they're anything líke Tau/Aeron, they'll probably leak from new..;)
I'd rather choose the AP CO2 version, or indeed, the Tau 7.
