I need part #2059, Secondary Release Lever for the MG-2. My old one has cracked, and the pistol is out of warranty. I have been referred to Jocelyn in Canada, but he has not been able to get me one, though he ordered one from Gehman (I think) last January.

Does anyone know of a way I can get this part?

I would like to get this pistol in order for the World Masters Games in October.

A couple of other local MG-2 owners I know have not had much success in getting parts from Neal, though I did buy mine from him.

Try directly Match Guns Italy, probably they answer to you quicly.

e-mail Stefano Calzetti at Matchguns...they provide excellent service, and parts can be ordered from them. Sure saves trouble with middle men not having stock. I replaced one in my MG2, but a modification was needed to make it function correctly. My serial no. is 22xx....so check with Stefano to get the correct part that does not require mods.

Today I received a prompt reply from Match Guns, actually from Stefano Calzetti himself. He asked for a photo of the 2059, which I sent to him this morning. Things are looking good. Thanks to LukeP and deadeyedick!

Visited Jocelyn this past Saturday about something else. He can't seem to get parts through Gehmann. He orders them, then the orders seem to go into a black hole.

I just received a MG-2 secondary sear directly from Matchguns S.r.l., sent by airmail. Thanks to Stefano Calzetti who handled my parts request quickly and efficiently. Stefano even passed along some hints for installing the part.

+1 on great customer service.

Jocelyn in Canada tried to help me, but Gehmann was unresponsive to his parts order.

Funny, I'm in the US, ordered the part thru Canada, received advice from Italy and Australia and finally received the part directly from Italy. A true international effort! Thank God for the Internet.

I should mention that the secondary release lever on my MG-2 also broke. I've had three parts break thus far: first the hammer spring, the secondary release lever after replacing the hammer spring (may or may not be related), and the grip.

I made the mistake of backing out the grip rake angle adjusting screw some (I guess too much!), the head of which presses directly on the wood of the grip to maintain the angle. When I reattached the grip it snapped right where the screw presses on the wood. Frankly I'm surprised that the bearing surface is not reinforced somehow in that area to distribute the load more.

I ordered a hammer spring from Neal after 3 weeks I called him about it he said he was having trouble with Gehmann. He e -mailed them and told them to send it to me not him as it was the middle of are Bullseye league . After another 2 weeks I e-mail MG if I could order from them I had a spring within 1 week . 2week after I had the spring from MG the spring from Gehrnann came.(It took a totle of 8 weeks ) Sounds like Gehmann needs to step it up a bit.

I own both the MG-2 and the MG-5E. If Stefano Calzetti was not there to cover my back -I wouldn't have ordered any MG products.I understand that pistols do,on occasion fail-but S.C. has always gone the extra mile to help me in replacing parts when I occasionally need them. However, to involve Gehmann as their distributor of their products/parts shows me that in the Match Gun company-some one was certainly asleep at the wheel.Neal Stepp of ISS,is the only dealer of MG products in the USA-as far as I know.He is a good man to deal with.How ever,even he has to jump through hoops to get parts/products for MG. In my opinion all Gehmann does is add to the price of MG products/parts in the USA and certainly adds to the delivery delay.

Don't underestimate Gehmann, they are a huge player in the german market - which is one of the biggest on the planet. If you look at their catalogue, you'll see specially priced Gehmann branded pistols, which are a nice way for the involved manufacturer to generate volume, therefore Gehmann is able and sometimes willing to help somebody get off the ground. On the other hand, it's my experience too that they have their hands full with wholesale issues and are not always willing to work with/for individual customers. But I can understand any manufacturer that wants to get into the german market to choose Gehmann.

I have heard similar sentiments echoed by interested business entities in the States. Gehmann will gladly sell the MG line, but makes it nearly impossible to get corrections for weapons sent out with parts from old versions mixed with new, missing test targets or advertised spares, and a lack of support when weapons need corrections, no matter how small or significant. Unfortunately, a small organization needs an outfit like Gehmann to survive, so it is a doubled-edged sword for Matchguns. It would help if Gehmann would take the time to know the MG line and make sure correct and complete weapons were shipped. Instead of putting the burden on an importer that is half the world away, make Matchguns take corrective actions. Of course Matchguns is probably having a hard time keeping up in this economy, so every error becomes something that appears critical to the end user. At least we are seeing some Matchguns in finals. That can never hurt sales!
