Off-Hand Button Rule

Post by BJ »

Hi everyone,

Can someone please clarify for me the exact rule about button placement in regards to off-hand? Is the rifle allowed to touch the button as long as the rifle is not sitting on top of or being supported by the button? I bring the rifle straight across my chest and my top bottom rests in about the middle of the side of my stock.

Here are the two rules I think are relevant:
7.6.1.2.4 However the rifle must not be supported by the jacket or chest beyond
the area of the right shoulder and right chest.
and
7.6.1.2.6 The rifle must not touch or rest against any other point or object.
This has been called on quite a few occasions and the solution is usually a wood rasp to the stock.
You also have to be careful with the grip area of the rifle.
