Morini CM 84E Light

Does anyone own one yet?
I hear it's 100gr lighter.
Can't find any pictures yet.

Nah, haven't seen one yet. Heard from Italy of sightings at national champs. May be another one of the infamous "Francesco specials", availability depending on your score...

Try to find a copy of the 2007 or 2008 Gehman catalog. There was a picture there. It showed a natural aluminum colored front sight block that was shaved on the sides, and alloy receiver side-panels (as opposed to steel.) I was told that they were also changing their barrel source and had contracted Feinwerkbau to replace the Lothar Walther contract for the 84E. Not so sure that they were changing the 162 barrel contract. I looked in this years catalog and there is no mention of the 84E light. It might have been a flash in the pan.

So? The Matchguns MG4 was "available" at Gehmann's for two years before the first ones were delivered, and Morini registered the CM142E in Italy despite the fact that not one single pistol was ever made...

If they are going to cut weight it's either going to come from a thinner barrel or changing the steel parts to aluminum. But a reduction would increase recoil, something I wouldn't trade for the weight.

on one website I found indeed that ergal is used, an aluminum alloy

Hammerli did the same when going from the 160 to the FP60 (forget the FP10 that is a Hammerli re-branded SAM).
Not obvious that the FP60 is better than the 160 !
Availability of FP60 is questionable...

And not abvious that the FP 60 is available at all?
Ordered one at mid-summer last year. Had to cansel the order the other day, ´cause no FP 60 ever arrived, no info about time of delivery of said gun from Hämmerli/Walther was ever given.
I just have up on it.

I heard from Walther agent that the FP60 is still manufactured but only now and then, in batch with a small number of pieces => if you cannot find one in stock, you never know when you will get it. As already said, Walther is famous for their poor customer support.
