pistol grip, v or u grip

When gripping the handle, pressure is from second section of index and middle finger pushing back. But what is complementary in pushing forward, is it the V as " get your v webspace in tight" or is it the U as " thenar eminence".

I seem to get most steady hold with "U" grip, using a relaxed, tight fitted thenar eminence as the grip base.

Comments V vs. U grip? Pushing forward with V at top or more U at bottom?

My AP grip is firmly seated against my thenar eminence (had to google it to find out what it was). I use filler and/or dremel to make sure I have a good uniform fit with maximum skin contact. Have also experimented with some fine carbide powder on the grip surface to eliminate slippage/movement.
