FPS for 10 meter rifle

What is the normal speed (FPS) that a 10 meter rifle should shoot? I just purchased a used (almost new) Anschutz 8002 S2 version with the CMP stock. I was a little disappointed to find the JSB Exact 8.4 grain pellets averaging 512 fps. I was hoping to be around 600 fps. I tested these pellets because I will be using this type of pellet for air rifle silhouette.
Is there any way to increase the fps? I can also be reached at
kgreen45@bellsouth.net. Thanks for the help. Ken

Don't know about modifying an 8002, but 550 fps is about normal for one firing the 8.2 gr RWS R10 pellets.
Did some extensive testing of my daughters 2002 last year, I'll have to dig up the spread sheet but I recall it only shooting in the 530-540 fps range.

I found out today that I actually shot the JSB Heavies instead of the JSB Exacts. Today I shot a 10 shot string of the JSB Exact 8.4 grains pellets and they averaged 569 fps. Lucky I do not need to adjust the rifle at all. I am glad of that. Now I just need to get down to doing the actual pellet testing. Ken

I am using the round nose pellets because they are more accurate, have a better BC, retain more energy and just perform better at the longer distances that the air rifle silhouette targets are placed at. The targets are set at 20, 30, 36, and 45 yards. The wadcutters do not have the performance needed at these distances.
