I have just acquired a used FWB 65 pistol. It shoots very strong at 450 fps. I noticed that looking into the compression cylinder beside the hone inner surface where the pellet sits, there are two holes - one at 3 o'clock and one at 6 o'clock. The one at 6 o'clock in my gun fills with some stuff like hard paste. Does anyone know what's this stuff is for? My 3 o'clock hole is empty.

I'll take a crack at this.....

There are 2 "holes" in the cylinder face. One is the breach port, where the compressed air moves from the compression cylinder into the breach to force the pellet down the barrel. This contains a blue or brown/beige vinyl breach seal (brown is an old or original seal and blue is newer style.)

The other "hole", below the breach seal is not a through hole, but a blind hole, designed to contain a plastic buffer pad. The pad contacts the disconnector lever below the breach. It is an off-white plastic pad, whether old or new. If it looks like "hard paste", it is because it has eroded and needs replaced. Parts are readily available and both the breach seal and disconnector buffer can be easily replaced without disassembly.

You've been very helpful. This is exactly what I need to know. Do you know where I can buy these parts (breach seal and disconnector buffer)? They look kind of easy to replace but is there a special technique on how to do this?

It's easy, just carefully pick out the gummy remains, trying not to let any fall into the interior of the pistol. Don't use any solvents or oils in the clean-up.

As for parts, I don't think our host stocks parts. There are several sources. I use ISS in Fort Worth, TX: 817-595-5928. Tell him that his big, bald, bearded neighbor recommended him. I don't have an address or website, but Randy Bimrose might be a source, as well.

I'll give it a try this weekend. By the way, I have ordered the parts from Beeman. They stocked everything. The breech seal and the disconnector buffer cost about $5.00 each.
