IZH46M trigger blade adjustment

Post by mheckman »

I am trying to adjust the position of the trigger blade on my new 46 and am having difficulty loosening the lock screw. I am using a Grace gunsmithing screwdriver, but even so, the screw won't budge. Before I break something, I thought I would post a few questions.

The screw does loosen counter-clockwise, doesn't it?

Is it known to be secured with a loctite type of substance?

Thanks,
Mark

Mark, you could try using a pair of small pliers to clamp the trigger blade just under the screw while loosening it. This should relieve most of the stress and make it easier for the screw to back off. Yes, counter-clockwise is loosening. The screws for the rear sight notch is clockwise to loosen.

This appears to be a known problem - I have read this post on other sites.

When I tried to loosen that screw, I stripped the head and had to drill it out and get a new screw.

Ideas:
Maybe try heating the trigger first to expand the metal?
Penetrating oil?
Impact screw driver?
Send it to EAA corp?

Good luck.

Thanks for the help...

I'll try some of these and see how it goes.
