I shot much better if I dry fire 3 or 4 shots before each actual shot.

Is dry fire legal before EACH shot in a match?

Sorry, I never been to an actual match. Don't know what is legal.

Also in the actual match, do you just shoot those 60 shots at your own pace as long as you finish 60 shots before the alloted time? Or is each shot timed from "start" to "stop" for 60 shots like what I see in Youtube Olympic 10 shot Final?

It certainly is legal. However, you might run out of time though, because you'd be arbitrarily extending your match 3 or 4 times. So unless you finish a 60 shot air pistol match in 21 minutes normally, you won't have time to dry fire 4 shots before firing a competition shot.

In your 60 shot qualification AP match, you can use your time any way you want to. You can go watch a 90 minute movie and then shoot the entire match in the last 15 minutes if you want.

In the finals, you do shoot on command. There you have 75 seconds to fire a single shot.

Yes - provided you do not discharge gas in the 10m events

I don't think there is anything in the rules that say you cannot dry fire after the start command has been given in finals. It is probably in your own interest not to, since you have a relatively short amount of time after which you get a big old 0.

8.14.6.1.5.6 AIMING EXERCISES ARE ALLOWED ONLY between the commands “STOP” and the following command “LOAD” but only with an open breech on a 50 m pistol, or with an uncocked air pistol. DRY FIRING IS PROHIBITED. (7.14.6.3.6 for rifle)

Trinity's point raises a fine line in the interpretation of the wording of the rule - it would be a brave shooter who wanted to 'push the envelope' by dry-firing between START and firing the shot to find out how the jury saw this rule.

It is interesting that this rule applies only to 10m and 50m.
