Starting SB prone again after 33 years

Like Misny, I am starting prone. May as well be from scratch as I have shot only pistol since then. For a 1413 and a 40xb I need to replace my Service Rifle sling set up with a cuff and detachable sling. Any recommendations?
The 1413 is a full blown free rifle from early 1960s. I have the proper palm rest, hook and two types of prone buttplates. All old, like the rifle.
Prone with scope would be with the 40xb.

I don't think you'll see many slings today that have a cuff with a detachable strap. Slings now have the strap sewn, rivetted or bolted to the cuff. The entire sling generally stays on the jacket, and a detachable swivel is used to clip onto the rifle.
I'd also suggest getting a synthetic sling made of plastic coated nylon, rather than a leather one. Synthetic slings won't become stretchy with age, and are waterproof too. Cuffs are often made of thick textured rubber that grips the jacket sleeve.

Tim gave you some good advice.
I have an old sling with the detachable strap and it is no where near as good as my current sling (sauer). My sauer sling has been great and I would definately reccomend getting it. Although a tad expensive they are fantastic quality and mine has served me well.

The Kurt Thune model II sling is very good too (that's what I use).
