Hi.

I just got my hands om a Toz-35 (not 35m). Does anybody know how to find out how old it is? Like a range of serial numbers produced at a certain time?

There appears to be no list or any other way to date a TOZ. Unlike the Izh35 which has its year of manufacture stamped on the frame.

Don't know about the Toz-35, but on my Toz-35M, the first two digits of the serial appear to be the year of manufacture.

I wouldn't worry about it, as long as it works and the internals are not worn out. Mine was MN1087 and I bought it used in 1977, the book had a test date of 1962 in it. As I recall the design goes back to at least 1960 and probably to mid 1950s.
Cheers -- Dr Jim

Mike, is this a hard and fast rule? The serial number on my 35M is #8627xx. Were they still making them that recently?

As far as I know, they stopped making them around 1990, but I am not 100% sure.

That would precede the fall of the Soviet Union by about a year(Dec. '91). My gun and case have all the usual CCCP markings. I purchased it new, mail order (imported it on a Form 6), from Eduard Kettner's in Germany, back in 1998.
