sharper shooting with shorter distance warm up, why?

I have learned to warm up by shooting short distance 5m on the regular target.
I would make an effort to make sure all my shots are 10's at this distance.
Why I shoot at 10m, this sharp shooting would carry over for awhile, shooting very sharply, then taper off down to 8's and 9's.
Why is this?
Is it legal to warm-up at short distance in a regular match?
You would have to displace your point of aim

Strange post.
You have to change your point of aim to hit dead center at the shorter distance, regardless of your point of aim at teh full distance...

I have center hold.
Aim is center regardless whether it is 5m, 10m or 25m.

I would think that any range with traps would insist on using the full distance, since your pellets would be hitting outside the trap at 5 meters.

Aim may be true, but the impact will change at this distance, so your zero will need to be adjusted. But, that really only means performing your last sighters at 10 meters.

No. Center hold at 10 meters will make you group about 0,5 - 0,7 cm low at 5 meters.
