LP-10 Trigger Adjustment

Right now I have factory settings on my LP-10. I would like to increase the first stage weight while maintaining the overall trigger pull weight. The manual doesn't explain adjustment real well. Am I correct in assuming I increase the screw for trigger pull force and then decrease the screw for the second stage pull force to maintain the overall pull weight. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
