Hook But-plate for prone

I tried shooting my FWB 2700 prone today with out the hook on it and it seemed to help me - the hook always seemed to get in the way a bit. I was wondering if any other people do this. Is it "allright" to do or should I use it to get a more consistant placement each time. I always use it for standing and kneeling.

Thanks!

I think you should use what ever works or helps your position.
that said I also think you should try it that way(without the hook) for a good period of time before you decide if it is worth adopting as part of your shotting position or not.

As Blue 62 says, whatever works best for you. If you look on HPS Website you will see that they recognise this and suggest the use of the heel plate assembly for those not wishing to keep the hook in place.
