Magnifiers

I am not happy with the quality of the magnifiers that are sold by Anschutz or Gehmann. Whether its the type used in a front sight or the ones built into the rear iris, they both appear to loose a lot of light, scatter some light, don't appear to be multicoated, and I question the quality of the lens itself.

Has anyone sought other lenses? Experimented with commercially available lenses? Any recommendations?

I may build my own out of laboratory grade optics.
