Who makes ammo for the "new" Rapid Fire requirements - 22 LR? What are the specs of this ammo namely FPS as compared to regulare 22 LR match ammo?
Thanks,

Susan

Eley now makes a Rapid Fire Match and a Rapid Fire Practice product. Zanders has some, I believe, and it should be available at Camp Perry in July.

I've been told that it has been blessed by ISSF as conforming to Rule8.4.6:

For the Rapid Fire Pistol Event: minimum bullet weight 2.53g =39gr; minimum velocity 250 m/sec.

Thanks for the reply.
I have some RWS Free Pistol ammo. Do you have any idea how the velocity of the FP50 compares to the Rapide Fire ammo. I would be more than happy to look it up myslef but it has been out of production for some time.

No idea. But I do know that Eley Pistol Match is too slow to be legal, and that's why they make a special Rapid Fire product.

I think you'll find Eley Pistol Match is way over the minimum speed, which works out to about 850 F/S, I think.
Take a look around this site. It shows velocities for all the major brands. I have no idea how accurate it is, but it should be close.
Eley, RWS, and SK have sub-sonic ammo now. PMC has one, but the bullet is only 38 grains.

Hope this helps

The published (by Eley) figure is from a 10 inch barrel. When shooting from a Pardini SP it didn't consistently make the minimum muzzle velocity, at least according to the folks at Eley, and that's why they have a separate product.

Do not be fooled into thinking that if a particular ammunition meets the velocity requirements for one pistol that it will meet the requirement in all pistols!

You will need to check the ammunition in YOUR pistol.

I just tested some old eley match that just passed in my pistol.
but other brands didnt to my suprise.
each pistol is different.

next issue is who calabrates the crono? might pay to check your pistol/ammo on the crono the officials are using prior to the competition.
rather than risking a fail, giving you a disqualification.
imho
