Does anyone know if there exists a rule that prohibits the use of sandpaper for the sole of the shooting boot? i've recently found that it helps my position hugely (is that a word?) in kneeling when i affix a piece to my forward boot. so far i haven't seen any rules that even mention it. if y'all can tell me a specific rule in an ISSF or NRA book that prohibits it, i guess that would be good enough for me to discount the idea.

I don't know the answer, but let me ask you more questions ...

Do you mean that you have a problem with your forward foot sliding or slipping when you put weight on your leg? Are you using a kneeling roll? If so, the forward leg should be as close as vertical (like a column) as possible. Then the foot won't slide out from under you. Or do you sit on the side of your rear foot, meaning that the forward leg is angled, and slippage is a real threat?

ISSF rule 7.4.7.3.4 says the boots must be a matching pair (so you would need the snadpaper on both boots), but I'd bet you won't get through tech check because of rule 7.4.7.1.2 (no devices that unduly restrict movement).

You might write to USA Shooting, and ask the rifle coach, or perhaps Marcus is watching this forum and will reply.

I'm no rifle shooter but I would suggest if you need sandpaper on your boots then there's something wrong with your position as it should be stable, and sounds like it isn't.
