Nygord Pellets

I have a Pardini K58 and I have been shooting Nygord Pellets. When I run out what pellets are the same? I have been told H&N Finale Match is the correct brand, but which diameter and weight? Don did not specify on the label which they were. I get 8.2 grains on my powder scale (.5315 Grams) any good source for Final Match would be great too. If there is a Vogel that is close I would be glad to know about that.
Thanks,
Dwight

Dwight,
The H&N match pellets are basically either "heavy" (about 8.2gr) or "light" (about 7.5gr). These correspond directly to the RWS match 0.53g and 0.50g pellets. Most other match pellets follow this pattern. Sometimes the heavies are called "rifle" and the lights are called "pistol" or "high speed". Among good quality match pellets, my sense is that all the different brands of heavy are pretty much the same, as is true for all the lights. So, if you want to purchase what you are using now, the closest would be H&N Finale Match heavies or "rifle", but just about any match quality heavy would probably perform the same.
That said, I prefer light pellets for my K-58. They get the velocity up into a range that MAY be slightly less demanding of perfect follow-through (and I've "recently" discovered that I'm not perfect!). Probably because Don's follow- through WAS close to perfect, he told me that he saw no point in stocking anything but the heavy pellets, and AFAIK he never did. A commonly-cited rule of thumb is heavies for CO2 and CA, and lights for SSP. Since most target air pistols are CO2 or CA, that's probably another reason why Don carried just the one weight. However he did stock different diameters, and the diameter of yours should be on the label on the bottom of the tin.

I guess I had never looked at the bottom of the pellet tin! (they all spill out if you do that when it's open :-) It says 4.49 I am thinking about getting a K2. I like my other Pardini guns, and I don't really think I am good enough that the Morini or Steyr would be of any advantage one way or the other. The Olympics have been won with a Pardini so I'm sure it's good enough for the likes of me! I sure miss Don, he would always make time to talk with me if I was in a quandry.

1. The price difference between the Pardini and either a Morini or a Steyr is meaningless. It becomes pennies over the time span of years of pleasurable shooting.
2. The product support you will receive from Pilkington is priceless.
I shoot a K2 and have found it to be a good gun. I bought the gun based on previous Pardinis I had owned. However, in 20/20 hindsight, I wish I had purchased a Steyr - from Pilkington. My experience with product support for the Pardini has been very poor (post Don Nygord). I plan to correct the situation later this year by purchasing a Steyr.

Larry Carter has taken over the Pardini line from Don Nygord. Check out
www.larrysguns.com I have always received great service from Larry. You may have to wait until after Camp Perry Pistol Phase to get him to work on a Pardini though. He is a pistol shooter first and foremost. That being said, I do love my Morini 162 EI.
