Sight swing ???

Post by ScottNC »

I was looking at nealjguns.com at Anschutz front sights and they have something called a 'sight swing' front sight. What the heck is this? It looks cool, but how is it better than the normal apeture type front sight. Anybody using one.

thanks,

I have one, its very good and does indeed look cool.

It has a few very good features.

1) you can adjust for cant without tools, unlike previous foresights. You just unscrew the back and the whole unit rotates. Makes adjusting cant a lot easier.

2) the design of the unit with a shaft under the circle that contains the element is very slim, therefore the eyes are more concentrated on the centricity of the circle the element is contained in, make centreing the foresight easier in the rear sight aperture

Its a litle higher that the previous standard foresight too.

One draw back, it will NOT take metal apertures, takes all plastics and high ends and is threaded both ends for filters and lens.

I'll give someone else a chance now!!

CENTRA markets these sights as their 'SCORE' models. http://www.edinkillie.co.uk/centra/foresight.htm
The tunnel is rotatable, so that the internal bars can be leveled.
It is also threaded to take the 'HIGH END' inserts or one of Centra's adjustable inserts.

/edit. Beaten to it again :)

I have one, used in conjunction with a Vario insert

Bruce is quite right, its th eaxact same unit, both are made by Centra, one marketed as ahg anschutz.

Centra are also now making the ahg irises for Anschutz too, notice how similar they are?

Anschutz still make their own jga irises but, the older style.
