Potenial Gamo Compact Problem and question from Newbie

Hello

I'm a newbie and have recently aquired an almost new Gamo Compact. I dry fired it a couple of times (just by cocking the trigger, not pumping it all the way) to test the trigger pull. It seemed a bit heavy and I was told that the screw behind the trigger guard could adjust this. I gave it a turn or two and now when I cock the trigger I hear a small hiss of air from the breech and sometimes out the barrel. Also it seems to take in a little air and partially charge the gun. No matter which way I turn the screw I get this hiss. Any suggestions?

Also, this gun is supposed to have a rear sight adjustable for width. How do I do that?

Thanks in advance for your patience and time on this.

Hi Anthony,

Might want to have a look at this website!

http://www.gamo.co.uk/compact.htm

The manual did not download at the time I looked, but you could try later.

TO ask a rude question, are you sure it's a compact? I've got one & pulling the trigger without cocking it does nothing. The cylinder is either charged or not, there's no multiple pumping.
I get a hiss at the end of the opening stroke, as the air enters the cylinder for compression, but not otherwise.

The triggers part of the manual says:
The trigger point is factory set at 750 g pull. The first travel
can be adjusted by means of the appropriate screw (a) as
shown on figure. Turn anticlockwise to shorten travel and
clockwise to lengthen it. The trigger blade can be swivelled
on its axis to match the shooter’s finger. To adjust the
angle, loosen screw (b), turn the blade to the desired angle
and fasten the screw.
a is the screw behind the trigger blade & b is at the bottom of the blade.
