Sight Width/Depth

Hi,
What is, in your opinion, the best depth? Can it be too deep?
As an example, take 1-2-1 (white-black-white) the white must be as deep as they are wide. I think.
Morini AP and FP have shallow sights (LP10 has an adjustable rear sight)
At 1-4-1 it may work fine but if you are 60+ and want to use at least 1-2-1 I think there is a problem, at least in FP.
It is a relief to shoot my FP10, I do have a nice sight picture but nevertheless I have bought a Morini 84E again. Set me back 670 US$ Trigger is superb but the sights... What can I do about it?

I like to set my sights up so that the foresight makes a "square" as a image.
It will be slightly smaller than the apparent diameter of the black on a precision target. The light gap will vary with ambient light level but will be about half the width of the foresight. ie 1-2-1 and 2 deep.
My aiming area is a similar light gap between the bottom of the black as to the side gaps.
For rapidfire I open up the rear sight to let in more light and centre aim, nearly 1-1-1 and 1 deep, for free pistol I use a slightly smaller width foresight.
Also I will open or close the rear sight slightly to suit ambient conditions, bright/dull etc.
