Is wearing a heart rate monitor allowed in an ISSF match?

The sensor part is worn around the chest, and a watch is the receiver/display unit. Since the transmitter has very limited range, it'd be impossible for the coach to be sitting behind the firing line and receive data... not that, somehow that's going to help the shooter, since the coach cannot transmit to the shooter.

I think it'd be very good feedback tool for the shooter, to be able to see his/her heart rate, and then use already practiced techniques to control that.

I cannot think of any rule that would prohibit their use.

I am not sure however how useful they would be during a match. I feel there could be a possibility of trying to control the heart rate within too narrow a band, taking the concentration away from the things that really matter.

A quick "finger test" on a pulse point every now and then should be able to confirm a generally elevated or reduced heart rate.

try to calm yourself down. for me i can actually feel my heart beat when i do so after a few deep breaths. i think it helps if you meditate often too you become aware of such things.
