Set vs Release Triggers

The ISSF rules speak of 'set' and 'release' triggers. ISSF rule sections: 9.2.4, 9.8.3, 10.4.4.1, and 7.4.3.7 The 'release' trigger is allowed if the officials are told about it. The 'set' is not allowed in Air Rifle 10 meter. Does anyone know what 'set' and 'release' triggers are? The 'release' type is mentioned in the shot gun section and may not apply to Air Guns. The ISSF terms of reference section doesn't define the words used in the rules but instead defines the length of time (terms) the official are seated and such. odd. It'd be nice if the ISSF had a glossary section.

A release trigger is a trigger that fires the gun when released v. pulled or squeezed. Many think this some how helps with those that flinch on recoil....maybe it does, maybe it doesn't.
A set trigger is a trigger that is "preloaded" to fire at a specific weight.
Many set triggers can be "set" to this light trigger pull buy pushing forward on the trigger or some are set via a second trigger or even a button.
Again great triggers for high recoil guns I have several drillings that have dual set trigger and will unload GOBS of energy with 1/2 pound trigger pull.
I'm not really sure why you would need either or want either for an airgun. The trigger allowences for airguns/air pistols are very light anyway.
