Hi,
Just bought Hammerli 240 in .38 + .32 and .22 all in one package for 520 US$. Not bad? Now to the shooting. I understand that .355 HBWC is the way to go. What v0 should I go for and how fast powder? The reloading equipment for 38/357 I intend to use, can it hold the .355 bullet tight enough? Should I grind the case expander? I use a Dillon 550.

Regards
Kent

Hi,
.355" WC is the way to go. Some resizing dies will size a case down more than others. Case thickness is also an issue. (Nickel plated cases are generally thicker walled, thus will grip the bullet better). Try this: Size a case, neck expand only a quarter inch, then see if you can push a bullet in with your thumb. If so, there is not enough neck tension. Use thicker brass or get a tighter sizing die. Regarding the neck expander: if you are using the Dillon 550, just get an expanding plug for a 9mm or .38 super. These use .355 bullets. This is better than grinding off the chrome plating that Dillon uses on the expander.
Powder wise, I'm an Alliant Bullseye powder fan. 2.7 gr. is good. VV310 is also excellent, as is WW231, IMR 700x.....
Check www.bullseyepistol.com go to the Bullseye forum and check the archives. Tons of 38 and 32 load data.
By the way, good deal on the Hammerli 240!!

Hi,
Not so much on the internet about P 240. I decided to make a site:
http://home.brikks.com/reinhamre/P240.htm
I hope Hammerli can provide some material, but no answer so far.

I will get the .355 bullets in a month.
How about .32, is it also small, like .311 or will .314 works for start?
The .22 is only for practice, I think.
