Hi All,

After a couple years shooting with an Air Arms S410 in Hunter Field Target, I've gone all out and purchased a Steyr LG100 and Rohm Twinmaster Pistol to start more accademic shooting.

I wonder if anybody can recommend books / DVD's etc that will quickly bring me up to speed and lend some sort of sense as to which accessories are actually necessary at the beginning stages:

IE - when do I need to really buy Gloves / Jacket / Shoes etc, and what should I be buying?

I'm still working my way through all the postings, but would love to jump into some sort of informal competition to see how things go with the new rifle.

Looking forward to your comments,

Alec

Definitely start with a jacket and glove. They will have the most positive impact (equipment wise) on your shooting.

Good luck.

As for books "The Ways of the Rifle" is reckoned to be excellent for advice on technique.

It was originally written in German, by several German and swiss international shooters, and has been translated into english.

You can contact the CMP (www.odcmp.org) for basic instruction on DVD.

Also, "The New Position Rifle Shooting" is a good basic text to get started.

Hi

You mentioned field target and I don't know what position(s) you shoot in for that sport, but in 3-Position Air Rifle you shoot in the kneeling position. Shooting WITHOUT a kneeling roll is VERY uncomfortable. After buying the gun, the second most important piece of equipment is a kneeling roll. Everyone has one, and takes it for granted, but try shooting without one .....
