IZH-35m grip modifications

Finally found some time.

The grip on my IZH is modified factory. At the time I did the fitting I didn't have the funds for a morini, rink, etc.

I read many articles about grip fitting and tried to use as much info as I could to get a good result.

The main tool I used was the sandpaper roll mounted in a die grinder. A Dremel will work as well. Working from back to front I cut/checked, cut/checked until I had something that I thought was comfortable. I took things slow, small adjustments over three nights. You must be careful to not remove too much wood, as the grips are thin in certain areas. After I felt I had a decent form I outlined the stippling area with an X-acto knife by lightly scoring the wood. The stippling took a great deal of thought. After having shot Anschutz free rifles as a kid, I knew that I wanted the grip to feel similiar. I tried many methods, until I stumbled upon the pick. The stippling was done by repeatedly striking the grip with the pick in the handle. As you might guess, it took quite a while to get the whole surface.

I am happy with the outcome, especially it being my first attempt.

I hope this helps!

John

IZH35M used magazine for sale on gunbroker.com
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewIt ... =158542077
$100 plus $10 S&H
Who would pay $110 for used magazine?
How much brand new magazine market price woul be?
So, an extra magazine for IZH35M would increase sale price for $100 ????
It is just crazy!!!!!!!!!
Baikal/IZH factory still make those pistols, but they call them MP-35M.
They are illegal to import to USA because there is no safety on them.
It is cheaper to make MP-35M without safety, upper shroud screws and red dot mount.
They are legal in Europe.
Why TOZ35,TOZ35M has no safety but they are still legal in USA?
Why would you buy pistol with no support and no parts available?
EAA can not answer those questions for me and won't reply my emails.
Any opinion?

The grips look great, Good Job.
I will be using your pick technique to finish a grip I have been working on, but it looks time consuming, maybe I will nail a few nails close together on a piece of wood and use that to tap the grip on the major areas.

That price won't be off by much, I bought the last magazines off a Walther dealer for $79 plus shipping.
Other people have claimed to have bought them at about $29 a piece, I went to that place and they were sold out
Looking at the number of readers of this post the IZH has a great following, and it would seem like a safe investment for an existing importer to be involved with it, but regulation and bureaucracy must be really tough to get through.

There is a specific federal exemption which allows importation of the IZH 35M into America.

All the factory has to do is make them and they can come in.

Very strange. You can't import 7.62x25 but any other caliber is okay.

Hello, I'm new to this forum and don't yet know how this works. I have 2 new IZH 35M magazines and no pistol. Who needs them and how can I get them to you?
