Gwhite wrote: Sat Oct 16, 2021 9:07 am The thing that is killing your scores are the 7's. Forget about scores and how many tens you've shot, and work on eliminating those. The score will be there once you do that.

Every time you shoot a deep 10, review all of the little details that helped make it happen. This not only reinforces the learning process for shooting 10's, but it will hopefully help you identify when something is different BEFORE you shoot a 7, so you can abort & start your shot process over.
Precisely identified.
Grip. If the grip gets into a trouble - then the 8s, and the 7s pop up.
It literally seats right in the same height, the 7s. But they are to the left.
Also the gun drops - due to pain the hand - can not hold it steady - some time.
so it moves left and drop down - creating something like this ( today ) :
Image

This literally shows the problem. Not a trigger pull, not anything but the gun moving to left and then down.
Also notice the amount of 9s on the left side - border lining 8s. They are disasters waiting to happen.
The grip moves - and my hand rotates - and that is exactly what creates the disaster.
In 90% of the case for 7,8 I am absolutely certain I am shooting right where I need to shoot. And they become 7 and 8s.
And I can tell you I am very certain where exactly I am aiming. I hit inner 10s - almost with gurantee * when I can have the right grip.
A 7 or an 8 tells me I need to fix the grip again. Literally that is what I do. I change stance a bit - adjusting for the diff and then change grip a bit and shoot and yes. 10 or very high 9 ( 9.9 ).

Thanks GWhite sir, for keeping me clues and providing all the helps. I know it is a thankless job - but a big thank you.
When we come to the USA - a big diner is on me.

P.S. I also have vertigo. Not sure if that is also impacting the sight I am seeing. But what I am seeing most of the time is the grip is rotating in my hand - changing the sight and direction entirely. It slowly and steadily start pointing left & below.

We need to have high bar man.. 90s are not good enough. Need to hit 380+ at home. And soon. 95 is worthy. 90+ is not.
Before Dec 2021.

Moving the sights a little up and right would have given you three more tens and maybe lost one of the sevens.

Rover sir.. I am totally giving up on sight adjustments now.
This is today.
Image

First 10 shots - just went to get the darn grip. So went the 11th too.
The moment I got the "right grip" - as I could get it - I just kept on hitting 10s.
I do not think it is anymore sight adjustments. It is literally holding the gun in different different ways.
Grip it is. I do not have the wisdom to change grip. Let the Grip come and I shall revisit if any such problem persists.

Any help will be massively appreciated!

Sometimes I think I am shooting 10 but it is coming in top left or bottom left!
Please help. I have marked the groups too!

The most likely causes are:

Shots at lower left: Forcing the shots off. Just keep increasing pressure on the trigger. It WILL go off. As soon as you think about taking the shot NOW, you are doomed.

Shots at upper left: Could be anticipation, but my first guess is finger tip pressure (assuming you are right handed). The finger tips should be completely relaxed, applying NO pressure on the sides of the grip.

I am double vaxed. Omicron hits you anyways. Pretty mild once you have double vaxed.
Only trouble it did create with my colleagues is bad stomach upset.
This is today. I think I am coming to terms with my old grip.
I can grip it. I can shoot it. And it is not moving at all.

Some of the initial shots went off - and then the group came in.

So with new year - some improvements.
The Rink Grip I brought - whose screw fitting I sort of screwed up - I could fix it with helicoils!
https://www.helicoil.in

Here is the LP 500 now with all it's Glory!

Just fixed it now, the grip is coming really nice - a bit of fitting issue here and there but way, way, way less pressure on my palm.
I will try figure out the situation tomorrow - by shooting some.
In between this is the last time I shot some ( before , with the old grip )

Sometimes the sight is becoming hazy.
And that is when the 8s and 7s are appearing.
Can anyone help me out - what to do when the sight gets blurred?

What are you doing about shooting glasses? Young eyes can deal with refocusing on the front sight throughout a match, but it's much easier if you use a lens to bring your relaxed focus in closer to the front sight. The older you get, the more of an issue it becomes.

There are tons of posts on the subject of shooting glasses, and given how long this thread has run, I think it's already been discussed earlier.

I also use an adjustable aperture on my glasses. This provides a bit more control when my eyes get tired towards the end of a match. I'm 70, and I need all the help I can get...

It is not something that one sees recommended but I found that blinking helps. You can also see some of the top athletes doing this if you pay attention.

If you need to blink in the middle of your "hold" while squeezing the trigger, you should abort the shot & try again. The secret to a small group is consistency. Unless you make blinking an intentional part of your shot process (which you can do, but typically BEFORE you drop into your hold), any deviation from it should be a signal to abort & start over.

I have a chronic eye problem with my tear ducts and my vision gets blurry a lot. I generally abort if that happens, but I try never to blink during the shot process if I can avoid it. In fact, I find my best, clearest shots come when I make my eyes get wide open.

That's exactly the common wisdom. However on the last ISSF GP finals I've seen shooters who were indeed blinking.
