Why don't you just use a cheap mp3 player with one of Spencer's audio files.?
Ha! Thanks! Thanks Spencer! No need for $400+!!! :)

various sources for suitable audio tracks, and they are a handy resource but not the same as a visual system (I have seen two types, red/green lights and turning targets, each in both computer and real devices)

The device I have seen sort of looks like the second $90 timer but it has a black bull in the location where it looks like they have the speaker that sort of looks like a target and there is a very small green light below and a red light above that would all be proportionate.

I have seen and used the reduced targets in the past. I was looking for something with a timer.

I finally found some in Europe and also sell them. It is a reduced target that you place on the wall and there is a built in timer with a red and green light that comes on so you can practice your lifts, timing, and dry firing.

Some years ago a friend made one such device for me to use, it was about the size of a soap box, had a green/red light, and space in the middle so you can stick a print out of a target. It supported all the pistol matches, SP, Standard pistol, Olympic RF, etc. He promised it'd last forever with the battery he soldered into the system. However, years later, it died because the battery was used up.

I opened it up and was going to just change the battery, but then I thought I should just replace it with a standard battery (ie, a 9V). I didn't realize until after I completed the slight wiring changes that somehow, the timing was specific to the voltage of the battery. It was designed to run with 6V, so with 9V, it ran way too fast. Oh well.

But then I was like, hell, I am an engineer, I should just make my own.

Then I was like, hell, why do I need a dedicated separate device for dry fire simulation when all this can be done in software?

I wrote this last time I was at a competition down in the US. It took about 2 hours, and is far from perfect. But hey, it works on any modern Android or Apple phone or tablet. And since most of us travel with those anyway, as long as you can get wifi access somewhere (even before you leave), you can have this. Just fire up your mobile browser, enter this address, and that's it. It loops forever (well, 999 count, but by then your arm should've fallen off). You can scale it to your liking with pinch to zoom depending on your dry fire distance. Just be careful resting your phone/tablet on a shelve, don't blame me if it falls down and cracks a screen!

Currently this is just for sport pistol duelling, cause that's what I shoot. I suppose if there was interest I could adapt it for all other events.

Happy training in 2015!

There is also an iPhone/iPad app for Rapid Fire Pistol, which has the commands and timings.

Hello dear friends!
Currently, the economic situation in my country has made adjustments to my price. Cost of goods in the national currency has not changed, but it has decreased in the USD twice. The cost of the simulator at the moment is $ 75, and a system of discounts.

Hello again! After analyzing the market of electronic components, I was able to find the items at cost. Slightly simplified design and production technology has changed the product. Now the cost of goods is $ 58. You can also save money if the order will not be single. Perhaps you are not the only one in your town who wants to buy a simulator. Write to me and maybe we can combine multiple orders into one.

After an exchange of emails to clarify that the timings had been changed to match ISSF (the website at the time showed the old RFP 3-2-1 countdown but now seems to have been changed) I purchased one of these units "out of interest".

To be honest the build quality was a bit "kitchen table" but it worked as it should.

The setting "code" is more confusing on paper than it is in reality.

I have since sold it to a Rapid Fire shooter who will get some use out of it (my days of shooting RFP ended nearly 30 years ago).

I had no complaint with the communication or the speed of despatch; the unit was posted the same day that I transferred the payment.

It seems to me that this would be a useful addition for anyone who wants to dry fire in a small room at home, especially if you have a gun with a dry fire facility (e.g. a Pardini Electronic).

I have no connection with the vendor other than the single purchase I made.

Use a second phone in 'slave' mode and you have the lights at the targets.
