Sure, video of the shooter can be helpful, but for the simple need of seeing which shot of a string is a flier a recording of that shot string on the target will give that order of results. But of course a recording of both at the same time would be much more useful, depending on the angle of the camera on the shooter; seeing the flier's location in the shot order then watching for differences in shooter behaviour on that shot compared to good shots might be very useful.

There seems to be a couple of discussions going on in parallel here. Firstly the ability to call shots is pretty much essential (IMHO). How else can you tell it was a good shot, what it felt like and get the positive affirmation associated with performing the proces right ? If you can't call the shot then it suggests to me the follow through is poor and likely the attention to the sights was less than ideal. Now if your talking about shooting strings - say in the 10 & 20 second series in standard pistol, then sometimes it's hard to identify the poorer shots. But in training you build up to a full string, you don't just shoot a full string and repeat. So train the first shot, get that right and at the right timing then add in a second shot and move on etc. Same process for rapid fire.
