For those using Knobloch or Champion style frames, do you adjust the lens to be oriented perfectly parallel to the rear iris? Bringing the lens a little closer to my eye tends to angle the bottom of the lens away from the iris. This seems to provide slightly better acuity even though not exactly square to the iris. This is for prone position where the head alignment is not exactly square either. Any thoughts or personal experiences? I have been using regular frames previously.

Ideally, you should have the optical axis of the lens aligned along the axis of the sights and your eye. This will mean that the plane of the lens is parallel to the rear sight eyepiece, but the proper way of aligning the lens is to use a centring device. This clips onto the front of the lens. It's a sort of small-diameter tunnel, so you can only see along it when it's properly positioned and aligned. It's a real fiddle to use.
As you've discovered, most frames are not particularly thoughtfully designed. (MEC look clever to me.) The lens is best positioned close to your eye. Some manufacturers provide cranked lens holders which help, otherwise, take courage and lens holder in both hands and bend!
