Can women compete in Free Pistol at ISSF events if they are willing to go against the men, or are the prohibited no matter what?

Free Pistol (i.e. P4) is listed in ISCD 9.1.2 as a Mixed event - i.e. men and women. This event will be held at the Paralympics on Friday and the results will be at http://results.beijing2008.cn/WRMP/ENG/ ... e/SH.shtml

If you mean 50 m Pistol Men, this event is listed in ISSF 3.3.1.1 Men's events. At an ISSF supervised competition it is for men only!
50 m Pistol Men Junior (ISSF 3.3.1.3) is for junior men only.

A number of Federations allow women to compete up to, and including their national championships.

Yes, really annoying when my wife shoots it with her sport pistol, scores 540 and beats me!

It's a real bummer when that happens - like when they can find the thing you have been searching the house (or garage) for over an hour...
