Hello & Introduction

Post by Oz »

I've been lurking for some time and it's now time to register and make a proper introduction.

I'm Oz. With a name like Aaron Ozminski it's not too difficult to see that correlation.

I live just north of Salt Lake City and moved to Utah from Southern California (just like 50% of the people now living in Utah) when I was relatively young. I joined the Utah Precision Marksmanship Society as well as USA Shooting when I was in college at the University of Utah. As with many, life put a lot of my interests on hold shortly after college.

It’s now 10+ years later. I'm married, have a big fat mortgage and a good career that I enjoy. My wife and I are done having kids (we have two; a 3 year old girl and a 5 year old boy). Things seem settled enough to get serious about 10 meter air pistol.

On 8/16/2008 I picked up an Izzy and participated in the PTO at the University. Since then, I've been pulling the trigger on average, 100 times/day. Results have been pleasing over the last few weeks. I'll share information on that later.

I'm excited to be part of the group and I look forward to attending some regional (dare I say National?) events down the road and at some point, I hope to beat some of you soon. Errrr, I mean, MEET some of you soon ;)

Excellent.

I like the idea of 3X Air! Springs is drivable from SLC... I'm going to tenatively put that on my calendar. Thanks for the suggestion.

Oz,

Welcome! You just missed a fantastic USA Shooting Regional tournament in Houston (actually Rosenberg) last weekend. You should put it on your schedule as well as the USA Shooting Zone 8 tournament (usually in mid-July) on your calendar. It does not matter that you are not in the Zone or Section as we had 2 competitors fly in all the way from Alaska. Hope to meet you soon.

But it's a dry heat ;)

Will you be at the match at the U at the end of the month?

Excellent. I'm making plans to attend any and all that are feasible. To make it easier to get to Houston, the company with whom I am employed, is headquarted in Houston. It's just strategy to coordinate a flight to HQ that coincides with a match. Then, no issue making the the flight home after the weekend.

Welcome to the board OZ. With a handle like you've chosen, I predict you'll be taken for an Aussie now and then!:>)

I'm not used to such an international crowd and hadn't considered this! But I suspect you're correct. I'll brush up on my didgeridoo and play along ;)

Good to hear from you Randy! I was poking around USA Shooting and found the PTO in Blackfoot. I actually emailed you question about it as well!

"I was looking at your USA Shooting Air Rifle and Pistol PTO Match
in December and didn't see men's Air Pistol, only Women's. Is
that usually the case?"
