So how do you score those darn targets?!

Post by arjuna70 »

I've been shooting a lot of 10m air pistol in the basement. I use a quiet pellet trap:

The trap has 3 bricks of putty type material with a cardboard in front of the target. I am using the NRA 10m air pistol target. Every time I try to score, its all torn up and for the life of me I can't figure out a score. I mean the groups are getting smaller which makes me happy, but I would still like to get a score to keep track of my progress. Any suggestions?

There is a recent thread on tearing target, the consensus is to use higher quality targets. The thread can be found here

The other item is to limit the amount of shots per target.
Too many shots too close together will merge together and naturally be hard to score.
If you shoot 20 shots per target, try dropping it down to 10.
If you shoot 10 shots per target, try dropping it down to 5.

As you get better and the groups get tighter you will have to reduce the number of shots per target.
