Line of action?

Hi all,

In a previous post I mentioned that I swapped the stock in my 2002, however I'm in a slightly difficult position now... Today I had a match (a stage of the Sao Paulo State Championships) and my score dropped rather sharply from "usual" (I've been shooting for about 1 1/2 years now and my scores have been hovering around the 545 mark). After the match I was talking to a shooting mate and he gave me his opinion that I was rather premature in swapping the stock right now in the middle of the championship. He suggested that I return the old stock and store the new one until the end of the season when I can re-install it and start training for next year's season. Admittedly there were also other factors involved in the drop - I have been absent (holidays) from training for 22 days and attached the stock immediately after returning, had only two training days to prepare and get acquainted with the rifle in its new configuration, I guess (or rather I'm certain) that this also influenced negatively in today's result.
With this situation in hand I would like to consult this forum's general knowledge pool and ask what would be the best line of action, return the old stock or try to get to grips with the new one until the next match (in a month's time +/-)? I'm second in the ranking and would like to make a serious bid for the 1st place, I can't afford to make more mistakes until the end of this year as I'm running quite "close hauled" (33 points difference in the total points sum) to the present 1st place holder.

IMO, swapping anything during a match or just prior to match that you do voluntarily is a bad idea. Not only can it throw you off physically, but psychologically as well. I'd put the old stock back on.

This is a no no .You dance with who brung you is a valid concept . Change after the season if at all . Good shooting Bill Horton

As the old adage goes; "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"!
As stated, if you feel the need for a change do so when you have sufficient time to get used to the change and not during a competition.
