Setting up the rifle

Hi all,

I've just swapped the stock in my rifle and now I need to set it up (set the buttplate, cheekpiece, etc...). Is there a particular order for setting the stock up, say, buttplate first, then the cheekpiece, etc...? Any help would be welcome...

I'd start by setting the handstop and butt length. You can take these from the old stock (presuming that they were correct). From there you can fine tune as needed, after experimenting in position.

Butt height should be easier once in position. Angle, and cant will take a little trial and error.

Cheekpiece can be set in position if you have the thumbscrew or ratchet style. Offset, tilt and other adjustment will again come afterwards.

Thanks, forgot to tell that it is a wooden (laminate) stock, so no need to adjust the handstop. LOP (buttplate length) was OK as it came.

Once you get it roughly set up I would suggest doing the blind method as I find that it really works great.

Take your stance, pick up the rifle and then close your eyes. Then open them up and see just where you're at. Its all trial and error but by closing your eyes and doing this repeatedly you'll end up with the perfect adjustments.
