Gehmann Pellet Trap for Pistol

Post by Gort »

I have a Gehmann pistol pellet trap, it has stopped approx. 14,000 pellets. The stop plate inside is dished about 6mm to 8mm deep from repeated impacts. My LP-10 and 162EI both chrono 480/490 fps. Has anyone else found this with the Gehmann traps?

I had the same issue with mine, using pistols with similar velocity. I removed the steel plate and flipped it over. It does not seem to cause any problems however, even if the plate is bent.

Perhaps the spring is not working? I put a screw in the backing plate to keep the spring from slipping.

My Gehmann took 18fpe shots without a dent in the plate. I would not recommend it for this as I got a fair amount of splatter cuts in the targets at this power, but the plate worked fine.

The Outers trap will last forever. It is designed for .22lr and even survives outdoors for me.

Best,

Joe

If anyone is interested, I procured two ( spare) 16 ga. (.116) 1018 plates 6.25 x6.25 " from a local metal fab vendor. Replaced the plate, works great.
