I’ve seen this accessory for the FWB 700 AL several times but I can’t for the life of me figure out what it’s for or, what purpose it serves?
It’s listed as a Chest Support.

It is legal. It really is nothing more than using a wooden stock that would normally have contact with the right chest area of the shooter. With the aluminum stocks there is no need for the extra material.
Resting on the left side of the chest (for a right handed shooter) is, by the rules, not allowed.

Well, when you think about it there is not really all that much meat to a AL stock match rifle as compared to a wood stock such as the FWB 300S and other makes from some years ago. So, with that said, it does make some sense in trying to match some of the support that was had with a wood stock albeit one has to shell out some more money in trying to achieve it. Its all a little bit of give and take (mostly give as in $). Granted, there are a lot of bells and whistles with a AL stock and all of it's adjustments but there is still that certain missing factor that is all so comfortable with a wood stock. I love the FWB 700 that I have but it does indeed take a bit of getting used to as compared to a wood stock. A totally different and somewhat alien feel to it but yet ever so nice in its fine tune adjustments. I'm still trying to get used to it but I'm sure in time I'll work out a good and compatible relationship with it.

For the reasons you pointed out, Walther have introduced their Anotomic LG-300 XT. It has all the advantages of an Al stock but is made from a one piece laminate. Shooters i have talked to who use it love its feel and firing cycle. It gives you the best of both worlds, adjustability/balance of AL, with the feel of wood. I heard Walther did this from shooter feed back.
Perhaps this may be a new trend?

Nice looking gun indeed. Bit of a different design but not all that different to the AL stocks that are out now. Comes with a MEC 170 butt plate which is nice as they seem to have raised the price to over $300.00 now! I have one on my FWB 700 but when I purchased it it was around $250.00 and that was hard to swallow!
Also it seems as thought the cylinder can be filled up to 300 BAR! WOW!
My Hill pump only goes up to 250 BAR and I doubt I could even get it that far without having a heart attack! I'm even wondering how well a SCUBA tank could handle that and if it would fill it up that far.
